Brazil U-17 squad finalises tactics ahead of United States friendly in Natal
The Brazilian U-17 national team concluded its final training session on Saturday at Arena das Dunas, setting the stage for a pivotal friendly against the United States on Sunday.

Brazil’s U-17 national team has completed its final preparations ahead of a friendly match against the United States, scheduled for Sunday, 7 June, at 4 p.m. local time. The session took place on Saturday, 6 June, at Arena das Dunas in Natal, the same venue that will host the upcoming contest.
Head coach Carlos Eduardo Patetuci utilised the training block to finalise tactical details and determine the starting lineup for the match. The fixture serves as the first test for the squad in a new preparation cycle on Brazilian soil, following their third-place finish at the South American Championship. The team is now focused on building towards the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar, which is scheduled to take place between November and December.
Patetuci emphasised the strategic value of the training environment, noting the importance of utilising a stadium designated for World Cup play. He highlighted the presence of local supporters as a key factor in building player confidence.
“This week of preparation was a very special one, with many new players coming in for the first time,” Patetuci said. “And that is also the goal of this preparation: to observe the new players so we can have the best squad possible at the World Cup.”
The coach described the week as productive, stating that the staff had developed their game concept and playing model. He noted that the pitch at Arena das Dunas is in perfect condition and that the proximity of Brazilian fans provides a positive energy that mirrors the atmosphere expected at major international competitions.
This friendly marks one of two clashes against the United States at Arena das Dunas. The match will be broadcast live by CBF TV and offers the coaching staff an opportunity to assess new call-ups to the squad. The United States men’s senior national team recently concluded its own World Cup warm-up preparations with a defeat to Germany in Chicago, but this fixture specifically targets the U-17 development pathway.
The team’s focus remains on refining its structure and integrating new talent before the global tournament begins later this year. The outcome of the match against the Americans will provide early indicators of the squad’s readiness for the challenges ahead in Qatar.
