The upcoming matchup between LSU and Ole Miss has emerged as the focal point of betting markets for Week 3 of the 2026 college football season. FOX Sports analyst Geoff Schwartz has identified the game as a prime candidate for a high-scoring affair, driven by the potent offensive capabilities of both programs.
Schwartz’s prediction is underpinned by the statistical output of Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss, who has accumulated 561 passing yards and five touchdowns in the first two weeks of the season. The Rebels’ offence has scored 41 points in each of their opening games, a performance Schwartz notes is particularly significant given the quality of their opponents.
Conversely, LSU’s offensive line has demonstrated significant scoring potential, racking up 51 points against Clemson and 45 against Louisiana Tech. However, Schwartz highlights a discrepancy in the Tigers’ efficiency, noting that their offence ranks 40th in points per drive and 46th in yards per play. Despite these mid-table metrics, the volume of scoring suggests a team capable of sustaining long drives.
Defensive dynamics also play a crucial role in the forecast. While LSU’s defence has been described as outstanding, ranking first in yards per drive, Ole Miss’s defensive unit presents a challenge. The Rebels rank 118th in yards per play, a vulnerability that Schwartz argues will allow LSU to score on the majority of their possessions if they can limit penalties and turnovers.
Beyond the headline SEC contest, Schwartz has directed attention to a player prop bet involving Arizona State running back Kyson Brown. Brown has averaged 7.7 yards per carry on 19 attempts this season, including a 66-yard performance against Texas A&M.
The selection is informed by the defensive profile of Kansas, which has struggled to contain explosive runs. Last weekend, Missouri’s running backs combined for 170 yards on 38 carries against the Jayhawks, a statistic that reinforces Schwartz’s view that Brown is well-positioned for a significant performance in the upcoming game.
