Barry-Murphy urges calm as Cardiff remain winless
Cardiff have three points from five matches and face Stoke with several players unavailable through injury.
Cardiff head coach Brian Barry-Murphy has urged players and supporters to remain calm after a winless start to the Championship campaign.
Cardiff are in the relegation places after a 2-0 defeat by Portsmouth left them with three points from five matches. Stoke visit Cardiff on Tuesday after a 4-0 win over Charlton.
Barry-Murphy, who guided Cardiff to promotion from League One in his first season in charge, said the club’s position should not prompt an overreaction. He described Cardiff as a young team that needs consistency and support.
The club’s squad is also being tested by injuries. Forward Isaak Davies is expected to miss the match after feeling a hamstring problem in training, while Calum Chambers, Dylan Lawlor and Will Fish are unavailable.
Barry-Murphy said the injured players were expected to return around the international break, although Chambers’ recovery timetable was more complicated. Cardiff added four players during the summer transfer window.
With limited options, Barry-Murphy said Cardiff would rely on the available players and backed the squad to win at Championship level.
