Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has publicly commended Marcus Rashford for a “fantastic season” as the club navigates the final stages of its La Liga title-winning campaign. With the league concluded, the focus now shifts to the financial and strategic implications of Rashford’s loan from Manchester United, which includes a mandatory £26 million buy option.
Rashford’s impact on the pitch has been significant, contributing 14 goals and 14 assists across 2,442 minutes of play. His performance was instrumental in the 2-0 victory over Real Madrid in El Clásico, where he scored a decisive free-kick. This result secured the La Liga title for Barcelona and marked the first time a Blaugrana player has scored against Real Madrid from a set-piece since Lionel Messi in 2012.
Despite these high-profile contributions, Rashford has not secured a permanent starting role throughout the season. He has made 30 league appearances, starting only 16 of them. In the Champions League, he started five of 12 matches, featuring as a substitute six times and remaining on the bench for the second leg of the last-16 tie.
Flick expressed his appreciation for the forward’s efforts during his post-match press conference. “I appreciate Rashford very much,” the manager stated. “I think his season was fantastic. He has good numbers, and I am very grateful for that, and I appreciate it greatly.”
As the club looks ahead, reports indicate that Barcelona is actively negotiating with Manchester United.
