Barcelona secured a 5-2 victory over FC Basel in a pre-season friendly, providing a platform for new manager Hansi Flick to assess tactical adjustments and player form ahead of the La Liga season. The match served as a critical preparation window, with summer signing Karim Adeyemi and midfielder Xavi Espart delivering performances that have intensified competition for starting positions.
Adeyemi, the 24-year-old German forward, opened the scoring to register his first goal for the club. The strike marked a significant personal milestone during his recent transition to Barcelona, offering early evidence of his potential impact under Flick’s regime.
