Auburn basketball heads to Greece for season preparation
Head coach Steven Pearl leads the squad for two exhibition matches as part of the 2026-27 campaign planning.
Auburn basketball is undertaking an overseas excursion to Mykonos, Greece, this weekend to play two exhibition games against KK Mega Superbet. The matches form part of the team’s preparation for the 2026-27 season and mark the first international trip under head coach Steven Pearl. It is also the program’s first overseas visit since a trip to Israel ahead of the 2022 season.
The Tigers will face the European club at the Ano Mera Indoor Hall on Saturday at 11 a.m. CT, followed by a rematch on Sunday at the same time. Auburn Athletics has described the opponent as offering some of the toughest competition available on the European circuit.
Head coach Steven Pearl will have access to key returners Tahaad Pettiford and Kevin Overton, along with transfers Thomas Dowd and Adam Olson, for selection in the upcoming games. The squad is described as being nearly as healthy as possible for the trip, with the core group of players expected to see court time.
However, four players will be unavailable for the weekend’s action. Vanderbilt transfer George Kimbel II and Creighton transfer Owen Freeman are sidelined due to injury. Additionally, international signees Mantas Rubštavičius and Narcisse Ngoy are being held out of the games in Greece while they await eligibility clearance from the NCAA.
