At least four civilians were reportedly killed and nine injured when a Houthi missile struck a gathering on the Heijah al-Abd road south of Taiz in Yemen, according to the state-run Saba news agency.
Saba, citing local and medical sources, said the strike hit a crowded road on Saturday amid heavy fighting across the Taiz and Hodeidah governorates. The casualty figures, location, target and attribution have not been independently verified in the supplied material.
The escalation follows reports from Yemeni government forces that they had retaken several positions on the Haifan front south of Taiz. Military officials said the positions included strategic heights overlooking al-Khazja market and disrupted Houthi supply lines, claims that remain contested.
Reports also said Houthi forces had captured a strategic military base in western Taiz. The competing battlefield claims come amid efforts by both sides to control routes towards Bab al-Mandeb, al-Makha and the Red Sea coast.
