The 20-year-old has accepted the move to Villa Park, citing the opportunity to compete in the Champions League as a decisive factor in his decision, leaving Newcastle United to confirm the failure of their transfer pursuit.
Newcastle had reached an agreement with the German club for a transfer fee of £49 million, but Aston Villa’s higher offer proved insurmountable. The Magpies had identified Manzambi as a key target to bolster their midfield, leveraging funds generated from the recent sales of Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali. However, the player’s preference for European competition ultimately tipped the balance in favour of the Midlands-based club.

The club had targeted Ekitike as a replacement for Alexander Isak, who recently transferred to Liverpool. Liverpool, reportedly frustrated by Newcastle’s stance on Isak, pivoted to sign Ekitike for an initial £69 million, compounding Newcastle’s attacking struggles after Isak’s departure.
Newcastle’s inability to secure these reinforcements highlights the competitive intensity of the Premier League transfer market.
