Artemis III crew visits NASA’s Vehicle Assembly Building
The astronauts viewed progress on solid rocket booster integration at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
The Artemis III crew and backup crew members visited NASA’s Vehicle Assembly Building at Kennedy Space Center in Florida on 2 September 2026, NASA said.
The group included NASA astronauts Randy Bresnik, Andre Douglas, Frank Rubio and Bob Hines, along with European Space Agency astronaut Luca Parmitano. NASA said it was the first visit to Kennedy by the entire Artemis III crew and its backup crew members.
Inside High Bay 3, the group viewed progress on the integration of the mission’s solid rocket boosters.
Artemis III is intended to carry four crew members aboard the Orion spacecraft for a series of planned objectives in low Earth orbit. Those objectives are designed to demonstrate systems needed for future lunar landings.
NASA says Artemis IV is expected to begin future lunar-landing activities supported by systems demonstrated during Artemis III. The supplied material does not include an Artemis III launch date.
