Sources indicate that Arsenal acknowledge the necessity of significantly improving their original offer to secure the defender, though it remains uncertain whether Villa will entertain a fee below their stated valuation.

Konsa’s profile is highly regarded at the Emirates Stadium, particularly for his versatility. He featured in 48 games across all competitions last season for Aston Villa, contributing to their Europa League triumph. The defender is currently on holiday following his participation in the World Cup and is absent from the Villa squad for their scheduled Super Cup fixture against Paris St-Germain.

Concurrently, Arsenal have engaged in exploratory discussions with Tottenham Hotspur regarding the potential acquisition of club captain Cristian Romero. However, Tottenham have no intention of selling the 28-year-old to their north London rivals, citing the intense historical rivalry between the two institutions.

Romero, who plays for Argentina, returned to action after a knee injury sustained in April ruled him out for the remainder of the domestic season. He started in the World Cup final, playing 70 minutes in the defeat to Spain. Despite the enquiries, the likelihood of a transfer involving the Spurs captain remains low given the club’s stance on maintaining squad integrity against local competitors.
