Apple is expected to put premium hardware at the centre of its September media showcase, with a folding iPhone, Pro iPhone models and new Apple Watch devices among the products previewed by WIRED.

WIRED is providing live coverage from Apple Park in Cupertino, with the presentation expected to begin at 10 am Pacific time on 9 September. The publication said the folding handset could be called the iPhone Ultra and may cost more than US$2,000, although its name, price and specifications remain unconfirmed.

The folding iPhone and Pro models are expected to go on sale later in September, while the base iPhone 18, 18e and Air may be delayed until early 2027. The preview suggested the delay could give Apple more scope to promote its premium devices, while also citing rising manufacturing costs and a broader memory shortage affecting the PC industry.

New Apple Watch and Watch Ultra models are also expected. WIRED said the new iPhones and watches could gain capabilities through an expanded version of Siri AI, with the event likely to focus on stronger chips, on-device AI, secure computing and battery optimisation.

Other products, including AirPods with cameras and smart-home devices, remain uncertain. WIRED said those products could appear at the showcase, at a later event in September or October, or not at all. The supplied material is a pre-event preview and contains no confirmed Apple announcements.
