Apple Pencil USB-C support reportedly coming to iPhone Duo

Apple’s iPhone Duo is expected to support the Apple Pencil USB-C after a planned iOS update later in 2026, according to Engadget. The feature will reportedly work across both the device’s unfolded inner display and its outer screen.

Support will not be available at launch. Apple has provided limited detail about the required software update, while iOS 27.2 around November has been discussed as a possible timing rather than a confirmed release date.

The compatibility is also expected to be restricted to the Apple Pencil USB-C. Apple Pencil 2 and Apple Pencil Pro reportedly will not work with the iPhone Duo. Pairing and charging the compatible stylus will require a USB-C cable, rather than the magnetic attachment used with compatible iPads.

The USB-C model lacks several features available on the Apple Pencil Pro, including pressure sensitivity, double-tap, haptic feedback, squeeze and Find My support. Other iPhone models reportedly do not support Apple Pencil.

Apple Pencil has historically been an iPad-only accessory. The reported iPhone Duo support would broaden its use to quick notes on the outer display and handwritten notes or drawing on the larger unfolded screen, subject to Apple’s confirmation of the hardware and software details.
