Anker adds charging data and digital companion to new smart display chargers
Anker’s new plug-in chargers display temperature, charging mode, status and output wattage, while the 45W Nano Charger adds a slower overnight charging mode.
Anker has introduced a range of plug-in wall chargers with built-in smart displays that show information about how a connected device is charging. Engadget reported that the screens can display temperature, charging mode, charging status and real-time output wattage.
For supported devices, the display can also show battery progress. Anker says the additional information is intended to make charging behaviour easier to understand, including whether reduced power is linked to rising temperature or another issue such as a faulty cable.
The chargers also include a touch-responsive animated digital companion. The on-screen blob reacts to taps with different animations, adding a playful feature to what is otherwise a display focused on charging data.
The 45W Nano Charger, one of the models in the line, includes Care Mode for overnight use. The feature slows charging to reduce stress on the battery and support long-term battery health. Anker says it can lower temperatures by up to nine degrees Fahrenheit compared with standard 45W chargers.
The chargers use Anker’s PowerIQ technology to allocate power according to the connected device. The company’s ActiveShield system combines temperature monitoring with current adjustment; Engadget reported that the latest version performs 3 million temperature checks daily. Pricing, release timing, availability and the full list of devices supported by the battery-progress display were not specified.
