Shira and Moshe Shapira say they are learning to live with the loss of their son Aner, who was killed during Hamas’s attack on the Nova music festival on 7 October 2023. In an interview with FRANCE 24, they said time does not heal their grief.

Aner was 22 when he died. FRANCE 24 reported that he threw seven grenades back towards Hamas fighters before an eighth exploded in his hands, killing him.

The interview focuses on how his parents continue to feel his presence despite his death. Their account reflects the enduring personal loss left by the attack, nearly three years later.
