American Airlines maps seven international routes for summer 2027

American Airlines has announced seven international routes for its summer 2027 schedule, with most planned to operate using Airbus A321XLR aircraft.
The new services include Philadelphia–Porto, Philadelphia–Vienna, New York JFK–Amsterdam and New York JFK–Nice. Reykjavik service will return, while Charlotte–Barcelona and Chicago–Tokyo Narita are set to operate with widebody aircraft.
American said the A321XLR allows it to serve destinations that may not support widebody operations. Its smaller capacity and premium-focused configuration are intended to give the airline more flexibility in thinner long-haul markets.
The carrier’s international flying accounts for roughly 20 per cent of its operations. American said Philadelphia–Vienna would become the only nonstop service between the two cities operated by a US carrier, according to the CNBC report carried by Yahoo Finance.
