Brazilian winger Allan made his Manchester City debut in a comprehensive 5-0 victory over Norwich City in the third round of the Carabao Cup. The match marked the first competitive appearance for the player, who joined from Palmeiras during the summer transfer window.
City manager Enzo Maresca had adopted a patient approach with Allan, allowing the winger time to adjust to life in England before granting him a starting role. The strategy was evident in Allan’s opening 20 minutes, during which he appeared physically outmatched by Norwich left-back Darlin Yongwa.
Despite the initial struggles, Allan contributed to City’s opening goal by providing an assist for Floyd Samba. The winger’s first cross from the right was headed home, marking a significant moment in his transition to the Premier League’s physical style of play.

Following the match, Maresca praised Allan’s performance, noting that the first minutes at home are often complicated. The manager emphasised the importance of Allan experiencing the differences between English and South American football, acknowledging that the winger secured both a goal and an assist.
The victory secures Manchester City a place in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup, where they are set to face Brighton. For Allan, the debut provided a clear indication of the threat he offers to the squad once fully acclimatised to the domestic competition.
