Alabama has moved into fourth place in CBS Sports’ latest ranking of all FBS college football teams, placing the Crimson Tide among the leading contenders ahead of a weekend showdown with Georgia.

The CBS Sports 138 is compiled by averaging ballots from CBS Sports and 247Sports experts. It is a media ranking, not an official NCAA table.

The Southeastern Conference accounts for three of the top four teams, five of the top 10 and nine of the top 20. Florida has fallen outside the top 10 after losing to Missouri, according to CBS Sports.

The ranking also highlights a tight group between 20th and 40th. Iowa is 20th and Nebraska 28th, with every team in between averaging a ballot position better than 25th.

CBS Sports points to contrasting results for Florida and Oregon as examples of the close calls facing its panel: Florida beat Ole Miss but lost to Missouri, while Oregon beat USC and lost to Oklahoma State.
