A.J. Brown’s Patriots debut ends with right ankle injury

A.J. Brown’s first game for the New England Patriots ended early after he sustained a right ankle injury in Wednesday night’s 13–10 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
Brown remained down after a third-down incompletion from quarterback Drake Maye. Seahawks cornerback Nehemiah Pritchett’s right knee appeared to land on Brown’s ankle, though no specific medical diagnosis was provided.
Brown walked to the sideline under his own power and spent an extended period in the medical tent before going to the locker room with members of the Patriots’ athletic training and medical staff. He was initially listed as questionable to return but was ruled out at the start of the fourth quarter.
He finished with three catches for 26 yards. Earlier, Brown helped set up New England’s first touchdown by drawing a defensive pass-interference penalty on an underthrown deep ball from Maye.
Coach Mike Vrabel said after the game that he had no update on Brown’s condition. The Patriots acquired Brown from the Philadelphia Eagles on 1 June in a trade involving a 2028 first-round pick.
