New England Patriots wide receiver AJ Brown left the season opener against the Seattle Seahawks early in the third quarter with an ankle injury and was listed as questionable to return, according to Yahoo Sports.

Brown had three receptions for 24 yards before leaving the game. He was shown heading to the locker room and an X-ray room, but the supplied report did not provide a diagnosis or confirm whether he returned.

The Patriots led 10-0 when Brown departed and went three-and-out on their first full drive without him. Brown had been described as New England’s clear No. 1 receiver entering the season.

The game was Brown’s Patriots debut after his June trade from the Philadelphia Eagles. Seattle quarterback Sam Darnold had earlier left the match with a hip injury.
