Agassi urges Raducanu to measure progress day by day
The former world number one advised the injury-hit player to focus on her identity and effort rather than results as she works towards a return to the top.

Emma Raducanu says Andre Agassi’s 2009 autobiography has inspired her as she seeks a route back to the top of tennis. She told Uniqlo she was particularly interested in how Agassi rebuilt his career after a slump by creating his own training regimen.
Agassi told BBC Breakfast he was pleased his account could still help players years later. He said he hoped it would offer people facing difficult periods in their careers a sense that they were not alone.
Asked what advice he would give Raducanu, Agassi encouraged her to focus on being her best each day, within whatever capacity she had, and not judge that effort by results. He also urged her to remain comfortable with her identity.
Raducanu, 23, won the US Open in 2021 aged 18 and reached a career-high ranking of 10 in July 2022. She is now ranked 98th, according to the report.
Her progress has been interrupted by physical problems. She missed the latest US Open while recovering from a stress fracture in her lower right leg, after a foot injury disrupted pre-season training and a post-viral illness kept her off court for two and a half months earlier this year. In June, she reached the Queen’s Club final, her biggest final since her US Open win.
