Adell’s triple helps Guardians force Game 4 against White Sox
Cleveland avoided elimination in the American League Division Series, turning a tied game into a 4–1 lead with a bases-loaded triple.

The Cleveland Guardians beat the Chicago White Sox in Game 3 of their American League Division Series, keeping their season alive and forcing a fourth game on Thursday. Chicago had won Game 2 by 4–3 and entered the matchup one win from a sweep.
With two outs and the score tied at 1–1, Jo Adell hit a bases-loaded triple to put Cleveland ahead 4–1. CBS Sports reported the hit was the game’s biggest shift in win probability.
Adell had also hit an eighth-inning RBI triple in Game 2, which nearly left the park. The back-to-back triples made him the 16th player in postseason history to achieve the feat, according to CBS Sports.
Chicago had several opportunities to add runs but came away with a single run in three of those innings, the report said. The supplied account does not give Game 3’s final score.
The teams are scheduled to meet again on Thursday, with Cleveland having avoided elimination and Chicago’s bid to close out the series still pending.
