AC Milan clean house: Head coach Massimiliano Allegri, sporting director, club CEO out after Serie A failure
Ownership cites 'unequivocal failure' of 2025-26 campaign as Allegri, Tare, Moncada and Furlani are dismissed

AC Milan has dismissed head coach Massimiliano Allegri, sporting director Igli Tare, technical director Geoffrey Moncada, and CEO Giorgio Furlani following the club’s failure to secure a top-four finish in the 2025-26 Serie A season. The decision was announced on Monday, one day after a loss to Cagliari in the final home match ended any remaining hope of Champions League qualification.

Ownership stated that the dismissals represent a comprehensive reorganisation of football operations, driven by a disappointing end to the campaign and ongoing fan protests. The club had set a clear mandate for the season: to return to the Champions League and establish a foundation for consistent success at the top of Serie A.

Despite holding top-two positions for the majority of the season, AC Milan experienced a significant decline in form towards the end of the campaign. Ownership described the final stretch as "completely inconsistent" with earlier performances, noting that the loss to Cagliari turned the season into an "unequivocal failure" regarding the stated mandate.

The sacking of Allegri marks a significant shift in leadership, occurring just one year after he was reappointed as head coach. The club confirmed that it will part ways with all four senior figures effective immediately, thanking them for their hard work and dedication during their respective tenures.

AC Milan will now participate in the Europa League next season. The club indicated that further announcements regarding new leadership appointments would be made in due course, with the aim of ensuring the team is well prepared for the upcoming campaign.
