Aaron Judge returns to Yankees after three-month rib injury absence
The Yankees captain went hitless in three at-bats and played six innings against the Colorado Rockies as the club manages his return.
Aaron Judge returned to the New York Yankees after about three months recovering from a fractured rib, resuming his role as the team’s third hitter and right fielder against the Colorado Rockies.
Judge went hitless in three at-bats. He struck out in his first plate appearance, flew out to centre in his second and was called out looking in the sixth inning.
The Yankees cleared Judge to return without stated restrictions, although he skipped a minor-league rehabilitation assignment. He played six innings in the field as the club began building up his workload.
Manager Aaron Boone said the Yankees would manage Judge’s playing time on a night-to-night basis and give him a full day off during the remaining games of the series.
Boone also described Judge’s return as significant to the team, citing his importance as a player, person and captain. The Yankees’ plan is to continue monitoring his workload as he returns from the injury.
