Yankees outline return timeline for Bellinger, Judge and Rodon
Cody Bellinger set to join Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre while Aaron Judge resumes throwing activities and Carlos Rodon prepares for a minor league start.
New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone has confirmed that outfielder Cody Bellinger will commence a rehabilitation assignment on Tuesday, with the club eyeing a potential return to the major league roster by next weekend. The announcement was made prior to the team’s scheduled game in Toronto on Sunday.
Bellinger has been sidelined since 26 July following a diagnosis of a strained left hamstring. Under the new schedule, he is expected to participate in games on Tuesday and Thursday, likely with the Triple-A affiliate Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
The outfielder has recorded a batting average of .259 with 11 home runs and 53 runs batted in across 102 games this season. Bellinger re-signed with the Yankees last winter on a five-year contract valued at $162.5 million and was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2026 All-Star Game in Philadelphia.
Concurrently, the Yankees reported that three-time MVP Aaron Judge will throw and run in New York today. Judge has not played since 31 May due to a broken right rib and threw for the first time since being placed on the injured list on Friday.
Left-hander Carlos Rodon is also advancing in his recovery from an elbow injury and is expected to make a minor league rehabilitation start on Tuesday. While the specific venue for Rodon’s appearance remains undetermined, he has completed two minor league starts this month, featuring appearances at both Triple-A and Double-A Somerset.
