Countdown to Kickoff – Best of the Last 20 Years: #91 – Felix Anudike-Uzomah
Kansas State defensive lineman recognised for pivotal role in 2022 Big 12 Championship run

Yahoo Sports has ranked Kansas State University defensive lineman Felix Anudike-Uzomah as the 91st best player of the last 20 years within its Countdown to Kickoff series. The recognition highlights a career defined by statistical production and leadership, despite Anudike-Uzomah entering the programme as a three-star recruit.

Nicknamed King Felix, Anudike-Uzomah recorded 184 tackles, 55 tackles for loss, and 13 sacks over three seasons at Kansas State. His trajectory is notable for rising from the lowest-rated recruit in the 2020 class, ranked 2,306th nationally, to becoming one of the most productive defensive linemen in program history.

He was a pivotal contributor to the Wildcats’ 2022 Big 12 Championship victory under head coach Chris Klieman. Anudike-Uzomah’s impact was evident early in his breakout 2021 season, where he posted 51 tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss, and 11 sacks. A dominant performance against TCU that year saw him record eight tackles, four tackles for loss, four sacks, and two forced fumbles.

The 2022 campaign saw him add 46 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, and 8.5 sacks before entering the NFL draft. He earned Big 12 Co-Defensive Lineman of the Year honours from the coaches and received Walter Camp National Defensive Player of the Week recognition. His performance against Texas Tech in 2022 further underscored his ability to disrupt opposing game plans, recording six tackles, three tackles for loss, and three sacks.

Anudike-Uzomah’s development from a pandemic-shortened 2020 season, where he appeared in five games with three tackles and one sack, to a championship-calibre player, illustrates his significance to the Wildcats’ success. Yahoo Sports noted that he was the best defensive player on a Big 12 Championship team, cementing his legacy in college football.
