Xiaomi unveils 18 Fold as its first mid-size foldable smartphone
The China-only foldable starts at 10,999 yuan and combines dual 120Hz displays, XRING 03 silicon and Leica cameras.
Xiaomi has unveiled the Xiaomi 18 Fold, its first “mid-size” foldable smartphone, with China pricing starting at 10,999 yuan. The device will be available in black, white and red, while wider availability has not been announced.
The phone has a 7.68-inch inner display and a 5.38-inch outer display. Xiaomi says both screens support peak brightness of up to 4,000 nits and adaptive refresh rates from 1Hz to 120Hz, with an A4 aspect ratio designed to provide a more consistent experience across the two panels.
At 219 grams, the 18 Fold is Xiaomi’s lightest foldable, according to Engadget’s report from the company’s IFA 2026 showcase. It uses a three-link proprietary hinge, an aluminium alloy frame and Shield Glass 3.0 protection. Engadget described the hinge as feeling solid during its brief preview, but durability was not independently tested.
The device is powered by Xiaomi’s XRING 03 silicon and includes a large silicon-carbon battery. Charging support reaches 67W via cable and 50W wirelessly. Xiaomi also claims improvements in on-device decoding performance from the chip, though further testing is still required.
Photography is handled by a Leica-branded triple-camera system, including a 200-megapixel main camera and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera. Engadget did not extensively test the cameras, and Xiaomi has not provided an IP rating for the phone.
