Xiaomi launches wide 18 Fold in China with Leica cameras and 6,000mAh battery
The short, wide Xiaomi 18 Fold starts at ¥10,999 in China, with sales due to begin on 10 September. International availability remains unconfirmed.
Xiaomi has introduced the 18 Fold, a short, wide book-style foldable smartphone positioned around a large battery, high-end cameras and the company’s first Xring O3 chipset. Chinese preorders start at ¥10,999, with sales scheduled to begin on 10 September.
The device has 7.58-inch inner and 5.38-inch outer OLED displays, both with peak brightness of up to 4,000 nits. Xiaomi has included split-screen apps and floating windows, while the compact outer display is designed for one-handed use when the phone is closed.
The 18 Fold features a triple Leica rear-camera system comprising a 200-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel 3.5x periscope telephoto and a 50-megapixel ultrawide. Its 6,000mAh silicon-carbon battery supports 67W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.
The phone is powered by Xiaomi’s Xring O3 chipset and includes Arm’s Mali G2-Ultra NX GPU. Xiaomi says the chipset delivers performance comparable with Snapdragon 8 Elite, while the GPU introduces mobile support for Arm’s DLSS-style graphics acceleration on Android.
The Verge, which had brief behind-closed-doors hands-on access, described the 18 Fold as shorter and wider than Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8, but thicker and heavier, with a more visible crease. Xiaomi has not announced an IP rating.
The 18 Fold is available in black, white and red, alongside a limited pink ceramic edition capped at 1,500 units. Xiaomi has not confirmed whether the phone will launch outside China.
