Alongside the date announcement, the publisher released a comprehensive gameplay video developed by Playground Games, offering the most detailed look yet at the title’s core social mechanics. The footage highlights the studio’s “Living Population” system, a feature designed to create a dynamic world where player actions have tangible consequences on the local populace.

The Living Population system centres on more than 1,000 fully voiced non-playable characters (NPCs), each equipped with distinct personalities and daily routines meticulously designed by the development team. These characters are not static background elements; they maintain their own lives and react to the player based on specific interactions. The protagonist, referred to simply as “Hero” by other characters, can engage with the population through friendship, employment, romance, or hostility, with these choices directly influencing global reputation and standing within individual settlements.

The gameplay video demonstrates the depth of this branching dialogue system through several scenarios. In one sequence, the Hero saves a talking pig and subsequently purchases a pub. This action allows the player to pick up jobs to earn money, which is then used to buy a house and impress a love interest. These interactions illustrate how the game blends traditional role-playing elements with life simulation mechanics, allowing players to build relationships and manage assets within the fantasy world.

Conversely, negative actions such as committing crimes or causing chaos will detrimentally impact the Hero’s reputation. However, the system also introduces mechanisms for reputation management, such as the ability to pay off the town crier to sway character perceptions.
