Clash in Italy marks first major promotion event in the country

The World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) has hosted its first premium live event in Italy, bringing its major production to Turin on Sunday. Titled Clash in Italy, the event represents a significant expansion for the professional wrestling promotion into the Italian market, marking the first time the organisation has staged a premium live event (PLE) in the country.

The main event featured Roman Reigns defending the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Jacob Fatu in a Tribal Combat match. The bout concludes a recent feud between the two competitors, who are real-life cousins. Reigns had previously defeated Fatu for the title at the Backlash event earlier this month, setting the stage for this high-stakes encounter in Turin.

The card also saw Cody Rhodes defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against Gunther. In addition, Jade Cargill and Rhea Ripley faced off in a rematch for the WWE Women's Championship, a bout that originally took place at WrestleMania 42. Sol Ruca challenged Becky Lynch for the Women's Intercontinental Championship, while Oba Femi took on Brock Lesnar in a rematch of their singles match from WrestleMania 42.

The selection of Turin for this inaugural Italian event underscores the WWE's strategy to broaden its international footprint. By staging a major PLE in Italy, the promotion is testing the viability of the region for future large-scale events, following the success of its global touring model.

All four championships were contested during the event, highlighting the depth of the promotion's roster and the competitive landscape within the organisation. The outcomes in Turin will likely influence the trajectory of the title picture in the coming months as the WWE continues its international expansion.
