The guard, who is set to begin the 2026 season with the Seattle Storm, stated that the severity of the threats necessitated the hiring of security personnel to accompany her while travelling.
The speculation arose after Grammy-winning rapper Megan Thee Stallion announced her break-up with Thompson, leading to social media claims that Brown was romantically involved with the five-time NBA All-Star. Brown denied these allegations, describing the situation as 100 per cent false and noting that her family also began receiving hostile comments and threats from the public.
In an interview with Fox News, Brown explained that the threats were directed not only at herself but also at her relatives. She highlighted that the volume of the rumours escalated to a point where she felt scared for her own safety, forcing her to take immediate precautions to ensure her protection while moving between locations.
