Withings targets GLP-1 users with $280 BodyFit smart scale
The French tech firm claims its new scale offers clinical-grade accuracy for body composition analysis, addressing a key side effect of popular agonist treatments.

Withings has entered the mid-range consumer health market with the launch of the BodyFit, a smart scale priced at $280. The device is specifically engineered to assist users of GLP-1 agonists, such as Ozempic and Wegovy, in monitoring muscle mass during weight reduction. This move addresses a significant gap in the company’s product lineup, as Withings has previously struggled to integrate advanced features into its lower-end models while maintaining its reputation for premium devices that can cost up to $600.
The launch comes at a time when approximately 30 million people in the United States are using GLP-1 agonists for weight management and diabetes treatment. Many of these users have reported muscle loss as a side effect of their treatment, creating a demand for tools that can distinguish between fat loss and muscle depletion. By offering detailed insights into body composition, Withings aims to help users manage these health outcomes more effectively.
The BodyFit utilises Bioelectrical Impedance Spectroscopy and a tension-reel grab handle to perform six-segment body composition analysis and single-lead ECG readings. To obtain these metrics, users must hold the bar at waist height, allowing the device to pass a small current through the body. This design mirrors the company’s flagship Body Scan model, ensuring that the mid-range option provides a similar user experience and data depth.
Withings claims the device is 98 per cent accurate for muscle mass and 99 per cent accurate for fat mass when compared to clinical DEXA (Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry) scans. These accuracy claims were derived from a comparison with the French sports clinic Mon Stade. DEXA scans, which use X-rays to examine bone density and body composition, are typically restricted to hospital or clinical settings, making the BodyFit’s consumer-facing alternative notable for its purported precision.
The device also includes app-based coaching features designed to support sustainable health practices. Users receive guidance on weight goals, calorie balance, and other recommendations to maintain their health regimen. The BodyFit is available for purchase immediately via Withings’ online store, with availability at other major retailers expected in the near future.
