Wisconsin football soars in class of 2027 rankings after WR commitment
Head coach Luke Fickell’s squad moves up three spots in Rivals rankings as Class of 2027 class strengthens

The Wisconsin Badgers football program has risen in the national recruiting rankings for the Class of 2027 following the commitment of wide receiver Jai Jones. The 6-foot-2, 175-pound prospect from Chandler High School in Arizona becomes the team’s fourth-highest-ranked recruit in this cycle, marking the first wide receiver commitment for head coach Luke Fickell’s squad in this class.

Jones’ decision moves Wisconsin up three spots in the Rivals rankings. Prior to the commitment, the Badgers were positioned at No. 19 on the 247Sports composite. The addition has solidified the program’s standing, with 247Sports now placing Wisconsin in the top 20. Rivals ranks the Badgers slightly lower than 247Sports but keeps the team within the top 25.

The recruit had previously demonstrated strong interest in the Arizona Wildcats, a school he could have joined with relative ease given his local ties. However, Jones selected Wisconsin after completing an official visit, ending a period where the Badgers had not secured a wide receiver for the Class of 2027.

During the 2025 high school season, Jones recorded 10 receiving touchdowns and finished 78 yards short of the 1,000-yard receiving mark at Chandler High School. His performance metrics and physical profile have contributed to his status as a significant addition to Fickell’s roster construction efforts.

Fickell has assembled a recruiting group that has consistently maintained a top-25 position in both Rivals and 247Sports metrics. The commitment from Jones represents a strategic gain for the program, enhancing the depth and quality of the wide receiver corps ahead of the 2027 collegiate season.
