Best Yoga Mats (2026): Lululemon, Manduka, JadeYoga
Consumer tech giant assesses fitness equipment with focus on grip, material and durability

WIRED has published an updated review of the best yoga mats for 2026, identifying the Lululemon mat as the top choice for most users. Published in May 2026, the assessment evaluated multiple brands, including JadeYoga, Bala, Liforme, and Sweaty Betty, based on grip, material, cushioning, and durability. The publication also named the Manduka eKO Superlite as the best option for travel.

The review incorporated expert input from health coach Maite Brines von Melle, founder of Superhealth Playbook. Von Melle described the Lululemon mat, priced at $118, as her favourite of the bunch. She noted its versatility for Pilates and resistance training, highlighting its cushioned feel for restorative yoga and its ease of cleaning. The mat is made with FSC-certified rubber and features a reversible design, though it does contain latex.

For consumers prioritising portability, WIRED pointed to the Manduka eKO Superlite, priced at $54. At 1.5 mm thick, the mat is significantly thinner than standard options, making it easy to pack for travel. Constructed from 99% latex-free tree rubber, it offers excellent grip via an “orange peel” surface texture. The review noted that while it lacks the padding of thicker mats, its closed-cell surface helps lock out moisture and bacteria.

The article also detailed specific product attributes for several other brands. The Manduka ProLite was highlighted for its closed-cell PVC construction and latex-free design, which appeals to users with allergies. Meanwhile, the JadeYoga Harmony was noted for being made in the USA from natural rubber, with a commitment to plant one tree for every mat sold. The Bala Play Mat was described as having a synthetic PU top and FSC-certified rubber base, available in 5 mm and 8 mm thicknesses.

WIRED updated its list in May 2026 by adding the Manduka Superlite, JadeYoga Harmony, and Bala Play mats, while removing out-of-stock picks. The review concluded with recommendations for yoga mat cleaners, including products from Liforme, Manduka, and Moxe, as well as props such as Lululemon cushions. Clare Walters, a trainer at Third Space, was also cited, advising that investing in a well-made mat with good grip is worthwhile for longevity and practice quality.
