WIRED updates iPad accessory guide with focus on durability and productivity
The latest buying guide highlights the Zugu case for protection, the Apple Pencil Pro for artists and the Logitech Combo Touch for business users, while advising against the Zagg Pro Stylus 2.

WIRED published an updated buying guide on 10 June 2026 detailing recommended accessories for Apple iPads. The article reviews cases, styluses, keyboards and stands from manufacturers including Zugu, Logitech, Twelve South, Casetify and Nomad. The publication notes that accessory compatibility can be complex due to Apple’s varied naming conventions, but most manufacturers clearly indicate which iPad models their products support.
Key recommendations include the Zugu case for durability, the Apple Pencil Pro for drawing and the Logitech Combo Touch for productivity. The guide also highlights budget alternatives and items to avoid, such as the Zagg Pro Stylus 2. The update specifically added the Twelve South Curve Mini while removing older products from the previous iteration of the list.
For protection, WIRED identified the Zugu case as a top choice due to its rigid bumper, magnetised cover and ability to adjust to eight different angles. The case is available for the iPad Air and iPad Pro models, with prices ranging from $70 to $80. The publication also noted that Zugu donates 10 percent of its profits to charitable causes.
Regarding input devices, the guide recommends the Apple Pencil Pro for users requiring pressure sensitivity and advanced features such as haptic feedback and a gyroscope sensor. While the second-generation Apple Pencil offers broad compatibility, the USB-C Pencil was deemed less suitable for sketching due to a lack of pressure sensitivity. The guide explicitly advised against the Zagg Pro Stylus 2, citing its high price relative to its limited functionality.
For productivity, the Logitech Combo Touch was highlighted for its detachable keyboard, trackpad and kickstand. The guide noted that while the accessory connects via Apple’s Smart Connector without the need for Bluetooth pairing, it adds significant weight to the tablet. Alternative options mentioned included the Apple Magic Keyboard for users willing to pay a premium for seamless iPadOS integration, and the Zagg Messenger Folio 2 as a more budget-friendly keyboard case.
