WIIRED Guide Recommends Cases and Accessories for Google Pixel 10 Series

WIRED has published a detailed assessment of protective cases and accessories for the Google Pixel 10 series, encompassing the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold. The review underscores the hardware’s integration of native Qi2 wireless charging and the Pixelsnap magnetic standard, noting that these features fundamentally alter accessory compatibility compared to previous generations.

The publication advises consumers against utilising cases designed for the Pixel 9 series. Google has modified the speaker placement and magnet integration on the new devices, rendering older cases incompatible. While some soft cases may physically fit, they risk obstructing the speaker port and interfering with Qi2 functionality. Conversely, cases for the Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro are largely interchangeable, with accurate cutouts and button placements, though they remain incompatible with the larger Pixel 10 Pro XL and the slightly different Pixel 10a.

WIRED’s testing identified several standout options for users seeking protection and magnetic charging capability. The Mous Limitless case received top marks for its slim profile, certified magnets, and reliable magnetic charging performance. For those preferring to showcase the device’s original design, Dbrand’s Ghost 2.0 was highlighted as the premier clear case, offering strong Pixelsnap-certified magnets and a non-yellowing finish. Bellroy’s Leather Pixel Case was also commended for its premium aesthetics and sustainable sourcing, providing a robust magnetic connection for Qi2 accessories.

Beyond cases, the guide evaluated screen protectors and charging hardware. Dbrand’s Prism 2.0 and Spigen’s Rugged Armor MagFit were noted for their precise fit and value, while OtterBox’s Defender series was recommended for users prioritising maximum durability despite added bulk. The review also examined Qi2 chargers, including Google’s official Pixelsnap Charger with Stand, which supports 25W charging for the Pro XL model, and Belkin’s 2-in-1 charger, which includes a 45W adapter for convenient travel.

The assessment emphasises that while Qi2 is backward compatible with standard Qi charging, performance may vary depending on the charger’s internal array placement. WIRED recommends verifying that cases are Qi2-certified or Pixelsnap-compatible to ensure efficient charging and proper magnetic alignment. The publication also noted that the Pixel 10 series introduces new software features, such as a screensaver option and Google Home controls, which activate when the device is placed on a Qi2 charger.
