Wholesome Direct returns June 6 with a slew of joyful games
The seventh annual digital event airs Saturday, June 6, with proceeds supporting the Transgender Law Center.

Wholesome Games is set to host its seventh annual digital showcase, Wholesome Direct, on Saturday, 6 June 2026, at 12PM ET via YouTube and Twitch. The event will feature more than 50 joyful games, including world premieres and demos from a roster of new and established studios. Confirmed participants include Frontier Developments, NPC Studio, Stray Fawn Studio, and Spry Fox.

The showcase follows the broader Summer Game Fest 2026, which begins the previous day on Friday, 5 June. While the wider festival kicks off with its main live show, Wholesome Direct offers a focused look at independent development and community-driven projects. The event promises a lineup of world premieres, demo reveals, and a handful of fun surprises from the industry.

A significant highlight for the event is the return of Spry Fox to independent ownership. The studio was sold back to its original founders in December 2025 following a period of ownership by Netflix. Spry Fox will showcase updates on its upcoming mobile MMO, Spirit Crossing, which Netflix had previously greenlit. The streamer remains on tap to publish the title on mobile, while Spry Fox will self-publish it on Steam.

Updates on other titles will also be provided, including Usagi Shima, a bunny Atsume-style game coming to Steam in 2026. The showcase will feature Is This Seat Taken? from Poti Poti Studio and Milki Delivery, a community-building game from the creators of Minami Lane, Blibloop and Doot. These announcements continue the tradition of highlighting diverse and accessible gaming experiences.

Proceeds from merchandise sales tied to Wholesome Direct 2026 will specifically benefit the Transgender Law Center. Since 2020, fundraising efforts for the event have raised more than $300,000 for various charities. Past beneficiaries have included the American Heart Association, Point of Pride, Save the Children, AbleGamers, the Palestine Children's Relief Fund, and the International Rescue Committee.

The event serves as a complementary piece to the wider industry calendar, offering a dedicated space for developers to connect with audiences. As the June calendar fills out with additional streams and news, Wholesome Direct stands as a key moment for the independent gaming sector to present its latest work.
