Mariota threw three touchdown passes, and Washington’s defence made a decisive contribution when Kain Medrano returned an interception for a touchdown. After Seattle cut the margin to two points, Washington converted two third downs to seal the result.
Baltimore also won late. Lamar Jackson threw a go-ahead touchdown pass to Matthew Hibner, then connected with Zay Flowers for 27 yards after Dallas had tied the game with a field goal. Tyler Loop kicked the winning field goal with one second remaining. CBS noted that Baltimore had blown 10 double-digit second-half leads over the previous five years.
Las Vegas moved to 3–0 with a 35–27 win over New Orleans. The CBS writer praised the team’s progress but cautioned that its schedule and nine takeaways through three games made the early record an uncertain guide to its prospects.
San Francisco also started 3–0, with CBS pointing to Brock Purdy’s efficient play. New England, by contrast, lost 35–6 to Jacksonville; Drake Maye threw two interceptions, taking his season total to six, according to the review.
Other results included Pittsburgh’s 30–27 win over Cincinnati, Cleveland’s 21–18 win over Carolina, Buffalo’s 24–16 win over the Chargers and the Giants’ 12–7 win over Tennessee.
