Walton secures fifth ATP Challenger title in Tyler
Adam Walton defeated Andre Ilagan in straight sets to add to his growing list of professional victories, following a dominant collegiate career in the United States.

Australian tennis player Adam Walton has claimed his fifth career ATP Challenger title, defeating Andre Ilagan 7-5, 6-1 in the final of the Texas Spine & Joint Men’s Championship. The match took place on Sunday at Center Court in Tyler, Texas, where Walton, the tournament’s No. 1 seed, secured a decisive victory over his opponent.
Walton’s path to the championship required navigating a challenging draw. He advanced through the Round of 32 by defeating Tung-Lin Wu 4-6, 7-6(4), 6-1, and followed this with a straight-sets win against Andres Martin in the Round of 16. In the quarterfinals, he defeated Timo Legout 6-2, 6-2, before overcoming No. 3 seed Liam Draxl 6-4, 6-4 in the semifinals.
The victory was confirmed via a post from the ATP Challenger account on X (formerly Twitter) on June 7, 2026. The win marks a significant milestone for the Home Hill native, who has established himself as a consistent performer on the professional circuit.
Prior to his professional career, Walton was a standout player for the University of Tennessee from 2017 to 2022 under head coach Chris Woodruff. During his collegiate tenure, he compiled a 124-25 singles record and a 101-47 doubles record. He was named an All-SEC player and earned All-America honours in both singles and doubles competition.
Walton’s collegiate achievements included a doubles national championship in 2022, which he won alongside Pat Harper. Beyond his athletic accomplishments, he completed a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology in May 2021 and a master’s degree in management in May 2022. His professional profile also includes a notable upset of Daniil Medvedev at the French Open.
