David Walker has produced at a higher rate than his limited role might suggest. Through Tampa Bay’s first four games, the second-year edge rusher recorded two sacks and six pressures on 52 defensive snaps, according to PFF.

His playing time rose from no defensive snaps in the opener to nine, 19 and 24 in the next three games. PFF credited him with six pressures on 27 pass-rush snaps. Yaya Diaby, Tampa Bay’s most-used edge rusher, recorded seven pressures on 153 defensive snaps.

Coaches Larry Foote and Todd Bowles said Walker had earned more playing time. His 24 snaps against Green Bay were a season high, though he did not record a sack. Tampa Bay’s defence finished that game with two quarterback hits and no sacks.

Walker missed his rookie season after tearing his ACL during training camp in 2025. Foote has pointed to Walker’s continuing development against the run and in understanding coverage responsibilities as factors in his progress.

The available figures show a sharp contrast between Walker’s pass-rush production and his share of the defensive workload. They do not establish why Tampa Bay has kept his role limited or how the edge rotation may change.
