Wales have confirmed their squad for the upcoming friendly fixtures against Ghana and Romania, with captain Ben Davies and Connor Roberts included following their recovery from injury. Davies, who plays for Tottenham Hotspur, has returned to the squad after undergoing surgery for a serious ankle injury sustained in January. Roberts, who represents Burnley, is set to make his first competitive appearance for Wales in a year after missing the entire 2025-26 season due to injury.

The 33-year-old Davies has not played since sustaining his ankle injury while playing for his club in January. Roberts, aged 30, was forced off with a groin injury during Wales' World Cup qualifying defeat by Belgium in June 2025 and subsequently damaged his Achilles after returning to Burnley. The right-back featured for the club's Under-21s earlier this month and was named on the bench for a Premier League draw against Wolves, though he remained an unused substitute.

Centre-back Chris Mepham also returns to the squad, while several other players are excluded due to minor injuries. Midfielders Jordan James and Rubin Colwill, along with forwards Liam Cullen and Mark Harris, have been left out of the selection. The squad announcement comes as Wales prepare for their return to the top flight of the Nations League in September, where they have been drawn against Portugal, Norway, and Denmark.

Wales will host Ghana at Cardiff City Stadium on 2 June before travelling to Bucharest to face Romania on 7 June. The match against Romania will be the first meeting between the two nations since 1993, when Wales lost at home in a World Cup qualifier. The fixture also marks the first home game in charge for Romania manager Gheorghe Hagi, who was appointed in April following the death of his predecessor, Mircea Lucescu.

Ghana, who are in the same World Cup group as England, Croatia, and Panama, will be facing Wales for the first time. The Black Stars are managed by Carlos Queiroz, who replaced Otto Addo in March. Queiroz, a 73-year-old Portuguese former Manchester United assistant manager, takes charge of a squad that includes Manchester City's Antoine Semenyo.
