Volkswagen Confirms 2027 ID.Buzz Return with Camping Trim and NACS Port
Volkswagen has announced the 2027 ID.Buzz will feature a native NACS charging port, one-pedal driving support, and a new camping-focused trim, though pricing and range figures remain undisclosed.

Volkswagen has confirmed the return of the ID.Buzz for the 2027 model year, addressing market concerns following the vehicle's absence from the 2026 lineup. The update introduces two new trim levels: the Tourer 4Motion, which adapts the European "Good Night Package" for camping, and the Pro S 4Motion, which sits above the base Pro S RWD model. This move signals a strategic push to revitalise sales after production issues and buyer hesitation impacted the previous cycle.
The Tourer 4Motion trim is designed for extended travel, featuring a fold-out mattress with a dedicated platform, removable window blinds, front ventilation panels, and a stowable table and chairs. To support longer trips, Volkswagen has introduced an "Overnight Mode" that adjusts the vehicle's software to conserve electricity. The Pro S 4Motion trim offers different upgrades, including a retractable tow hitch, captain’s chairs, 20-inch dark graphite wheels, and electrochromic smart glass for the roof.
Technical updates for the 2027 model include support for one-pedal driving and a native NACS charging port, aligning the vehicle with broader industry standards. The ID.Buzz will also run Volkswagen’s refreshed ID.S 6 software, which features a redesigned, more responsive navigation screen and a more intuitive vehicle settings page. Additionally, new vehicles will include a free one-year trial of VW’s In-Vehicle Premium service, providing access to third-party applications such as YouTube and Spotify.
Volkswagen is also simplifying its exterior options by enforcing a mandatory two-tone paint scheme for the 2027 ID.Buzz, including a new Candy White over Cherry Red combination. This decision corrects a previous production imbalance where an oversupply of single-colour models was shipped to the US. Due to strong buyer preference for two-tone versions, the automaker had previously offered rebates to dealers to wrap single-colour vehicles to stimulate sales.
Despite these structural and feature updates, Volkswagen has not yet disclosed changes to pricing or driving range for the 2027 model. This remains a critical data point for investors and consumers, as high prices relative to driving range have been a significant complaint regarding the current iteration of the electric bus.
