Former NFL kicker Adam Vinatieri was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday, 8 August 2026, cementing his legacy as one of the sport’s most consistent performers. The ceremony took place at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio, commencing at 12:00 pm Eastern Time. Vinatieri, who played for the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts, retired as the league’s all-time leading scorer.
The induction ceremony honoured a distinguished cohort of players, including quarterbacks Drew Brees and Luke Kuechly, running back Roger Craig, and wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald. Vinatieri’s career spanned two franchises, beginning with the Patriots from 1996 to 2005 before moving to the Colts from 2006 to 2019. He was signed as an undrafted free agent and went on to secure four Super Bowl championships, three with New England in 2001, 2003, and 2004, and one with Indianapolis in 2006.
Upon his retirement, Vinatieri held the NFL’s all-time records for points scored (2,673), points scored in the playoffs (238), field goals made (599), and field goals made in the playoffs (56). The Pro Football Hall of Fame, which hosts this annual event in Canton, Ohio, recognised his status as the gold standard for clutch kicking in league history.
