Venture Global shares surge 12.7 per cent on energy rally and geopolitical tensions
Investors rotate into energy stocks as US-Iran tensions drive oil and gas prices to monthly highs, boosting Venture Global’s quarterly revenue by 59 per cent.

Venture Global shares climbed 12.7 per cent week-on-week, driven by a broad rotation of capital into energy stocks as escalating geopolitical tensions between the United States and Iran pushed oil and gas prices higher. The shift in investor sentiment coincided with a sharp rise in energy benchmarks, with August Henry Hub natural gas futures increasing 1.85 per cent to $2.91, Brent crude rising 4.59 per cent to $88.10, and West Texas Intermediate gaining 4.48 per cent to $82.49. These crude benchmarks reached their highest levels in approximately one month.
The price surge was catalysed by renewed hostilities in the Middle East, including a missile attack on a Kuwaiti desalination plant and the reinstatement of a US blockade in the Strait of Hormuz. Marine Traffic data indicated that transits through the critical waterway dropped to 57 last weekend, a significant decline from the pre-conflict average of 130 daily transits. These disruptions have tightened global supply expectations, providing a tailwind for energy producers with exposure to liquefied natural gas exports.
Venture Global reported robust first-quarter financial results, with net income jumping 23 per cent to $488 million from $396 million in the same period last year. Revenues surged 59 per cent to $4.599 billion, up from $2.894 billion year-on-year. The company exported 130 cargoes and sold 481 TBtus of liquefied natural gas during the quarter, marking a new quarterly record and a 111 per cent increase from the first quarter of 2025.
Institutional interest in the stock has intensified, with hedge fund participation rising significantly in the first quarter. According to data from Insider Monkey, 50 hedge funds held stakes in Venture Global during the period, up from 22 in the fourth quarter of 2025. Their combined holdings soared 683 per cent to $838.5 million, compared to $107.1 million quarter-on-quarter, signalling heightened bullish sentiment among sophisticated investors.
Venture Global is scheduled to announce its second-quarter results before the market opens on Tuesday, 11 August, with a conference call to follow. Investors are closely watching the upcoming report to assess whether the elevated geopolitical tensions and strong operational performance will continue to drive earnings growth into the second half of the year.
