UTSA turns 14-point deficit into 59–45 win over Colorado State
Five straight touchdown drives powered the Roadrunners’ comeback, a week after their offence was held to 142 yards against Texas.
UTSA recovered from a 14-point deficit to beat Colorado State 59–45 in San Antonio on Saturday, answering a difficult loss to Texas with the second-highest scoring total in programme history.
The Roadrunners scored five consecutive touchdowns in less than 20 minutes of game time, turning the early deficit into a 21-point lead midway through the second quarter.
UTSA gained 542 yards of offence, including 349 in the first half, and converted nine of 16 third downs. Two failed conversions came on kneels to end each half, according to the Yahoo Sports report.
The 59 points fell two short of the programme record of 61, set against Rice in 2025, the report said. The performance followed a 30–6 loss to Texas the previous week, when UTSA recorded 142 yards and did not score a touchdown.
Coach Jeff Traylor and quarterback Owen McCown had urged the team to “keep shooting” after its slow start. The report said UTSA also avoided the penalties that had disrupted its offence in the opening games of the season.
