USA next World Cup match: Schedule, start time, draw bracket and results as USMNT face Australia
Group D dynamics and knockout bracket mathematics come into focus ahead of Friday’s fixture

The United States men’s national team is scheduled to face Australia on Friday, June 19, at 3 p.m. ET in Seattle. The fixture forms part of the group stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which the United States is co-hosting alongside Canada and Mexico. The match represents the second group stage contest for the USMNT, who opened their campaign with a 4-1 victory over Paraguay at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on June 11.

Head coach Mauricio Pochettino leads a squad that includes captain Christian Pulisic, who withdrew from the opening match against Paraguay at half-time due to injury. The United States was pre-drawn into Pot 1 as hosts and placed in Group D alongside Australia from Pot 2, Paraguay from Pot 3, and Turkey from Pot 4. This arrangement is a standard procedure designed to optimise venue distribution and bracket positioning for the host nation.

The opening match against Paraguay, attended by 70,492 spectators, saw Folarin Balogun score two goals on his international debut, with additional goals from Gio Reyna and an own goal by Paraguay’s Damian Bobadilla. The result marked the highest goal tally in a single World Cup match for the USMNT and was the first World Cup fixture hosted on US soil since 1994.

Broadcast arrangements for the tournament have been confirmed, with all USMNT matches televised on the FOX network in the United States. The matches are also available to stream via Fubo, which is offering a free trial for new subscribers. The 2026 World Cup runs from June 11 to July 19, featuring 104 matches across 16 host cities, with the final scheduled for July 19 at MetLife Stadium in the New York-New Jersey area.

Should the United States qualify for the Round of 32, either by finishing in the top two of Group D or as one of the eight third-place qualifiers, their knockout path will be determined by their final standing. There are 495 mathematical combinations for third-place qualifiers, with the most likely scenario seeing the USMNT face the winner of Group E. If the team advances as a top-two finisher, their bracket placement will depend on the results of other groups, with potential opponents including teams from Groups G, H, I, and J.
