Developer reports identical automated replies on code hosting platform and unverified AI screenshots from former employer

A developer has shared a detailed account of their frustration with the increasing prevalence of AI-generated content in online professional and community interactions. The individual, who posted their experience on Hacker News under the headline "I'm Tired of Talking to AI," cited specific incidents on GitHub and Reddit where they encountered identical, unhelpful automated responses.

The account begins with the developer identifying GitHub repositories that were distributing malware. After seeking advice via an AI tool and receiving no useful guidance, the developer opened a discussion on the platform. They reported that the first reply they received contained text identical to the AI-generated response they had previously obtained. Upon challenging the authenticity of the comment, it was deleted, and a subsequent reply from another user contained the same AI-generated text.

The developer also recounted a professional incident involving a former employer. When the developer posed a question regarding a business task, the business owner responded by forwarding a screenshot of a ChatGPT output. The developer noted that the content was irrelevant and incorrect. Despite being informed of these errors, the employer sent another screenshot of the same AI response a minute later, having not reviewed or verified the information provided by the tool.

Further illustrating the issue, the developer described a multi-turn conversation on Reddit that initially appeared to be a standard user interaction. After several exchanges, the developer realised they were communicating with an automated AI agent rather than a human. This experience contributed to a broader sentiment of exhaustion with interacting with AI agents and individuals who rely heavily on AI for communication.

In light of these experiences, the developer stated a preference for interacting with real people. They also noted that they now publish all new notes on Telegram and Bluesky, platforms where they appear to maintain a more direct line of communication with their audience. The account reflects a growing user fatigue with AI-generated content and the challenges in distinguishing between human and automated interactions on major digital platforms.
