USC replaces Oregon in latest College Football Playoff projection
CBS Sports has moved USC into its projected 12-team playoff bracket after Oregon’s loss at Oklahoma State, while Ohio State and Texas retain prominent positions.
USC has replaced Oregon at No. 9 in CBS Sports’ latest projected 12-team College Football Playoff bracket, following Oregon’s loss at Oklahoma State in the opening two weeks of the season.
The result ended Oregon’s 21-game winning streak against unranked FBS opponents and leaves the Ducks needing a strong remainder of the season to enter the at-large discussion. Oregon’s remaining schedule includes USC, Ohio State, Michigan and Washington.
USC is projected as the Big Ten’s third playoff team. The Trojans’ next test is a Big Ten opener against Rutgers, with Ohio State, Michigan and Washington also remaining on the schedule.
Ohio State remains projected to win the Big Ten despite losing to Texas, which mounted a comeback victory. CBS Sports has kept Texas in its projected position, while noting that six ranked opponents remain on the Longhorns’ schedule.
Miami, Georgia, Ohio State and Notre Dame occupy the projected top four. Boise State remains the projected Group of Six representative after its win over Memphis.
The bracket is a CBS Sports projection, not the confirmed College Football Playoff field. Results later in the season could materially change the outlook.
