Ty Gibbs to honour Kyle Busch with M&Ms tribute at Bristol

Ty Gibbs is set to carry the memory of the late Kyle Busch into the upcoming race at Bristol Motor Speedway, where he will drive the iconic M&Ms No. 54 Toyota. The tribute scheme serves as a recognition of Busch, a two-time NASCAR Cup champion who passed away in May, and his significant historical connection to the venue.

The decision to utilise the tribute livery was a collaborative effort between Joe Gibbs Racing, the Busch family, and M&Ms parent company Mars. Gibbs noted that multiple parties were keen to run the car, but he was ultimately selected to pilot the vehicle for the Saturday night contest.

Bristol holds particular significance for the late champion, who achieved two triple-header weekend sweeps at the track. Throughout his career, Busch recorded nine Cup races, nine O’Reilly series races, and five truck races at the venue. His widow, Samantha Busch, stated that seeing the team, family, and brand come together to honour him meant more to the family than words could express.

Gibbs, who succeeded Busch at Joe Gibbs Racing in 2023, arrives at Bristol with momentum following his first career Cup victory at the track in April. He is currently positioned sixth in the standings, 51 points behind leader Denny Hamlin, and recently secured a win at Iowa.

Despite the emotional weight of the tribute, Gibbs expressed confidence in his team’s performance. He indicated that the car has a strong chance to win the event and the remainder of the season, while maintaining a focus on the immediate race rather than past highlights.

The race is scheduled for Saturday night, marking a significant moment for the sport as the community gathers to celebrate the legacy of a driver who was deeply associated with the M&Ms brand and the energy of the Bristol crowd.
