Trump Media launches API to monetise market-moving Truth Social posts
Trump Media and Technology Group announces August launch of API providing millisecond delivery of posts from high-ranking accounts, including President Donald Trump, aiming to capitalise on the platform's financial influence.

Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG) has announced the launch of a new application programming interface (API) for its social media platform, Truth Social, scheduled to go live on 1 August 2026. The service will provide businesses with real-time, 24/7 access to posts from "highest-ranking" Truth Social accounts, specifically targeting those with significant market influence, such as President Donald Trump.
The API utilises industry-standard delivery methods to transmit posts to customers in milliseconds. It also includes a historical archive of content dating back to 2022, allowing financial institutions and data analysts to integrate Truth Social activity directly into their monitoring systems. This technical infrastructure is designed to support continuous coverage without the latency often associated with manual scraping or third-party aggregators.
TMTG CEO Kevin McGurn stated that the initiative aims to capitalise on the fact that financial markets already react to posts made on the platform. Unlike other social networks where API access is primarily used for content distribution or marketing analytics, TMTG is positioning this tool specifically for investors seeking to trade on the market-moving influence of political figures. McGurn noted that markets have demonstrated a tendency to move on Truth Social posts, creating a demand for direct data feeds.
The move contrasts with the strategy adopted by other major platforms. Twitter, now X, notably closed free access to its API in 2023 following its acquisition by Elon Musk, restricting data access to paid enterprise tiers. TMTG’s approach mirrors earlier models where platforms offered free or paid API access to facilitate third-party development, but with a distinct focus on the unique political economy of Truth Social.
President Trump is the platform's most popular user, holding approximately 12.9 million followers as of July 2026. He is also a majority shareholder in TMTG through his trust. Trump frequently uses Truth Social to announce major policies and governmental actions before they are released through official channels, making his posts a high-value data point for market participants.
TMTG expects the API to generate a "meaningful, ongoing source of revenue" for the company, creating lasting value for shareholders, including the Trump family. The company has previously diversified its portfolio by merging with a nuclear fusion business last year, which serves as an alternative revenue stream if the social media venture does not meet financial expectations.
The specific pricing model or subscription tiers for the API have not been disclosed in the source material. However, the launch signals a formalisation of the link between political discourse on Truth Social and financial market dynamics, offering institutions a direct pipe to data that has historically influenced asset prices.
