Tottenham secure Savinho in £75m transfer from Manchester City
The Brazilian winger completes a long-running negotiation with Spurs, who have now spent over £300m this summer despite recouping funds from previous sales.

Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement with Manchester City to sign 22-year-old Brazilian winger Savinho for a base fee of £75m, with the potential for an additional £10m in add-ons. The transfer, which has been in negotiation for more than 12 months, follows a period of limited playing time for the winger under Pep Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium.
Savinho is expected to undergo a medical before finalising a long-term contract with the club. His move to north London marks a significant shift after he previously chose to remain at Manchester City following a failed bid from Tottenham during the previous summer window. Last season, the Brazilian made just seven Premier League starts, prompting his departure as the club looks to bolster its attacking options.
The acquisition is part of a broader strategic overhaul under head coach Roberto de Zerbi, who has already overseen the spending of a combined £185m on midfielders Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali. With Savinho’s arrival, Tottenham’s total summer expenditure has now surpassed £300m. However, the club has managed to balance this outflow by recouping approximately £140m through the sales of Cristian Romero, Djed Spence, and Luka Vuskovic.
Despite the substantial investment, sources indicate that Tottenham are unlikely to conclude their transfer activity. Negotiations for Manchester City team-mate Omar Marmoush, a £59m signing from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2025, are reportedly progressing positively. The Egyptian forward had fallen down the pecking order at City last season, making him a logical target for Spurs.
Further interest remains in Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo, though financial constraints may limit the club’s ability to secure the Dutch attacker alongside the moves for Savinho and Marmoush. The uncertainty surrounding these additional deals highlights the financial balancing act Tottenham must navigate as they prepare for the new campaign.
Tottenham kick off their Premier League season at Brentford on Saturday at 17:30 BST, while Manchester City host Bournemouth on Sunday at 14:00 BST.
